Backround Information
Texas alone provides a habitat to approximately 630+ of the 914 species of birds in North America. They thrive in the Texan setting due to the native plants. A majority of these plants provide birds with nesting grounds, cover/shelter, and most importantly, food. Birds flock to (pun intended) the Midwestern Texas area due to what nature provides them. Birds play a critical role in the environment and local ecosystem. They are natural insect-eaters and help transfer pollen from plant to plant to aid in seed dispersal. Birds also sing lovely tunes, making them nature’s music box.

Benefits
As stated previously, birds are a key player in the environment: they eat pesky insects, transfer pollen and seeds, provide stress relief, and help prevent the spread of disease. Birds may be the first species to provide pest control, followed by us humans. Many birds eat insects and truly help us out. Many of the most popular birds in the area, such as Starlings and Grackle, are known of their insect-eating habits. These bug-eating birds devour insects such as grasshoppers, beetles, crickets, and caterpillars. In return, farmers and residential areas reduce their need for harmful insecticides. Throughout history, birds have helped humans by saving crops from pest damage or destruction.
Birds also aid in flower fertilization. They are attracted to a flowers color, scent, and nectar. Once they have made contact with the plant, they naturally disperse pollen and/or seeds and help with the reproduction of other plants.
These beautiful creatures also provide stress relief, which is something we could all benefit from. Am I right? Bird watching or "birding" , has become a popular activity in the area due to the surplus amount of species available to see. It has become increasingly popular in society to have a bird feeder or bird house in the yard, creating easy access to the stress-eliminating activity.
Additionally, birds can serve as natures clean-up crew. I’m starting to feel like we should pay them for their services! By eating and removing dead carcasses from the ground, the transfer of disease is lessened. Birds naturally dispose of the roadkill and reduce the risk of harmful bacteria or malady spreading to other animals or humans.
Due to these incredible benefits, wild animal control has safely been catching and releasing birds for many years.

habitats
We are all neighbors to birds. No matter the species, birds are everywhere! They can be found in rural, urban, and suburban areas. Birds reside in trees, low-ground bushes, or even in gutters and windowsills. They are known to enjoy the high-rise life, though, as opposed to the ground floor. Depending on their needs, birds will migrate and travel until comfortable. Another reason Midwestern Texas is a hot spot for birds is due to the popularity of native plants and the habitat they provide. Although birds have numerous options for housing, their natural habitat is impacted daily by human development and expansion. Texas.gov suggests that as we modify the land and impact natural habitats, we put up bird-feeders and birdhouses to host the birds.
catch and release
The catch and release of a wild animal should be done as humanely as possible, without injury to the animal or human. If you are unable to catch the animal, or fear it may be injured, sick, or a danger, pleased call Wild Animal and Pest Control.
Regarding birds, one of the most popular techniques we use is a simple catch and release bird trap that allows for humane bird removal. This is the ideal solution for pest control that we offer, compared to other company’s methods such as poison, pellet guns, or other lethal methods. These traps allow for the bird to have access to food and water until being rescued then released into the wild. The size of the trap also warrants the bird room to move around while waiting for release.
The Device: Water or other attractants are used in the device to lure the bird in. The walls are transparent and ventilated to provide comfort for the bird. The mechanism has an opening for the bird to enter into a ‘holding area’ and it serves a dual purpose as it also keeps the bird from exiting once inside. Release. After the birds have been caught, they are all released back into the wild. Wild Animal and Pest Control releases the birds back into a favorable environment for the particular species such as a wooded area or near a water source.
